Len Barker, Lotus Practice
About Len: Len spent 15 years in the nuclear industry managing complex, multiple system projects before founding Davalen’s predecessor, Barker Consulting in 1998. His understanding of business comes from 10 years of running his own business and in plant manager, project manager andbusiness development positions in the corporate world. He is a certified IBM instructor and is well versed in web technologies, system administration, and collaborative technologies. He was the chief architect and developer of an intranet that was used by five major U.S. utilities and a nuclear plant manufacturer. The intranet created a paperless office, a collaborative space for project management, a document management system and a project accounting and budgeting system. The accounting system linked to the manufacturers ERP system (JD Edwards) to produce budget versus actual graphs on demand. Len holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the United States Naval Academy and MBA from Auburn University and is a licensed professional engineer. He serves on IBM’s Mid Market Advisory Council.
Deborah Corcoran, Staffing Services
About Deborah: Corcoran brings with her significant experience in sales, marketing and consulting services for enterprise accounts across the U.S. and internationally. Prior to joining Davalen, she supported the IBM Software Services teams across all the IBM Software portfolios, in addition to working on numerous IBM dedicated vendor teams building and managing strong, long-term relationships. Using a consultative sales approach to articulate IT consulting services and solutions product offerings to Fortune 500 -1000 companies, she successfully grew her sales territory in yearly revenue specific to IBM Software Services for the Lotus and WebSphere brands. Most recently, she also established the Staff Aug Division at Binary Tree, Inc, where she held the position of Director of IT Staffing focusing on IBM strategic staffing support. Corcoran holds a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University, belongs to several professional recruiting organizations, and is a current resident of the greater Boston area.
Dave Jacob, WebSphere Practice
About Dave: Dave received a BS degree from Florida State University in Applied Mathematics and Physics and is a Fellow in the Life Management Institute (FLMI). He is listed in “Who’s Who In America”, and is a frequent contributor to technical publications on technology initiatives. He holds a commercial pilot’s license and is a resident member of the Professional Bowlers Tour. He also serves on the board of two 501c’s concerned with the welfare of children with cancer (Christopher’s Haven) and at risk teenagers (Roxbury Social Impact Center). Dave held a number of key management positions with EDS and Data General and founded Jacob Solutions, Inc. (JSI) in 1993 and merged JSI with Barker Consulting to form Davalen, LLC in 2006. Dave is certified by IBM as a architect/consultant/trainer in most development technologies in IBM including RAD, Domino and Portlet Factory and has worked with various languages including FORTRAN, IBM assembler, COBOL, Lotus Notes, LotuScript and Java. At EDS, Dave was a regional vice president, responsible for all sales and customers in the discrete and process manufacturing business in the southwest. Earlier in his eighteen year career at EDS, he designed, installed and managed solutions for companies in the manufacturing, insurance and health care industries. At Data General, Dave was a vice president responsible for all systems integration work for the corporation, managing a technical staff of 200 focused on the discrete manufacturing and health care industries. Corporate solutions were developed using a client server, open systems approach and replaced proprietary systems.
Ruth Jarvis, Marketing & Events
About Ruth: Ruth Jarvis joined the company in 2002 and took charge of the Marketing Department in 2007. She is responsible for Davalen’s presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube and manages Davalen’s monthly email newsletter, website, blog sites, webinars, and conferences. She also handles our public, press and analyst relations as well as case study development, white paper creation, press releases writing, and outreach to clients for joint media related initiatives. Ms. Jarvis, received a Communications degree, cum laude, with a double emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Hartford. She is a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professional (NAPP), the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) and was awarded Excellence in the Study of Advertising from the School of Communication at the University of Hartford.
David Wilkerson, CTO
About David: David’s professional career spans multiple disciplines with a consistent emphasis on discovery and implementation of solutions geared to achieving objectives of strategic importance. For the last fifteen years David has embraced technology as a means to an end. In 1993 David established his consulting practice providing automation of business processes. In 1996 he joined Jacob Solutions, Inc., predecessor to Davalen, LLC where he served as Principal Application Architect and Solutions Engineer. His project management and implementation skills have been put to work in sectors such as manufacturing, health care, banking, and insurance. The tools he employs include Microsoft DCOM (now known as .NET) and J2EE. His practice is to prefer technologies that leverage international standards. For this reason much of his development and implementation has been based, since 2001, on Java related technologies. David’s professional certifications include being a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and an IBM Advanced Developer. A popular orator, David has been asked to speak across the United States on a variety of topics, including many java related topics, document management and web content management. His academic background includes a BA in History from The Citadel, an MDiv from Southern Seminary, and post graduate studies in data communications at Boston College.
Peter Wilkerson, Search & Discovery
About Peter: Peter has 20 years of both Information Management and Project Management experience. He solves information-related business problems using both Information Science and Technology. He specializes in bringing different groups together to solve the problem at hand, often acting as an interpreter among different groups so needs are better understood and met. He has worked with organizations across the United States to develop online access solutions for both digital and paper-based records. He has explored and used a number of different Information Technologies to design and build solutions including GIS, XML data models, databases, and search and discovery software such as OmniFind, Solr, and eXist. He co-authored a book for the J. Paul Getty Information Institute, “Introduction to Archival Organization and Description” (also a web publication), led workshops to support a collaborative effort to coordinate information technology strategies across multiple organizations for a Southwestern organization, and was a course developer and instructor for the Society of American Archivists on access points and intellectual access to collections. And, more recently, he was an invited participant at a colloquium sponsored by National Archives and Records Administration and the Society of American Archivists held in Washington, D.C.

Peter is also an experienced project manager, most recently serving as the project manager for an extensive e-commerce design and implementation project. Additionally, Peter is an IBM Authorized Instructor for Rational Application Developer and Websphere Application Server Core curriculum, an IBM Certified Solution Designer, DB2 Content Manager V8.3 and is comfortable working with a broad range of technologies Peter holds a BA in History from the Citadel, an MDiv from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and an MLS from the University of Kentucky.
